Beauty Truths From Jordana Brewster

Jordana Brewster is about to be all over your DVR - she's starring in ABC's Secrets and Lies and FOX's Lethal Weapon this fall - which means you're about to get plenty of reasons in HD to admire her skin. But the star, 36, admits her biggest secret to young, wrinkle-free skin is keeping her beauty routine simple. "I'm of the mentality that less is more," she tells PeopleStyle.

Brewster, who's the face of Pond's Skincare, says her secret to ageless skin is keeping a consistent routine, plus a little investment in herself - the actress indulges in facials from celeb-loved aesthetician Shani Darden. "She's so good at extractions and I actually sort of enjoy them," Brewster laughs. "I'm kind of a masochist. But it leaves my skin looking so good."

And in her downtime, the star keeps things simple with five so-smart (and so-easy) beauty truths you'll swear by too:

Truth No. 1: Your car mirror never lies.
When Brewster's stuck sitting in L.A.'s infamous traffic, she sneaks in a quick eyebrow touch-up - after all, you can't beat the natural light for brutal brow honesty. "I just check 'em out in the rearview mirror and am like, 'Now is time to tweeze.'"

Aside from an occasional tune-up, though, she'll leave the rest to the pros: She's a loyal client of Mêche Salon's makeup artist Gina Veltri, who keeps her bold brows in check. "I used to get made fun of in middle school for my giant caterpillar eyebrows," Brewster tells us. "Now thick eyebrows are in. On a day-to-day basis I don't fill them in. I do that with a makeup artist."

Truth #2: Your skin is thirsty. Hydrate it.
"I loved growing up in a very humid climate in Brazil and New York, because it kept my skin so hydrated," she says. "But California is so much dryer."

On top of drinking plenty of H20 every day, Brewster swears by Pond's Rejuveness Anti-Wrinkle Cream for years to maintain her radiant skin: "It's just what my skin needs, so I don't need to switch up my routine often."

Truth #3: Use pool or beach days to multitask.
Brewster keeps her naturally colored locks (she hasn't found any gray strands yet!) soft with her summer treatment secret. "If you're swimming in the pool or ocean, use any oil - like coconut oil or almond oil - as a mask for the day," she tells us. "Put it in your hair, then throw your hair up in a high bun. It looks so good and also gives your hair a great treatment."

Truth #4: And oil is your friend elsewhere.
We'll admit it: slathering greasy oil all over your face or body can sound intimidating. And for those of us already suffering from oily skin, adding more sounds counterintuitive. But Brewster says incorporating natural oils into your beauty routine works wonders. She grabs grape seed oil to melt off her makeup at the end of the day. Lately, Brewster's been gravitating towards coconut oil as a body moisturizer, too.

"I put it on right after I get out of the shower when my skin is still a little damp. I even use coconut oil as a gloss sometimes," the star says. "It's just so good."

TRUTH #5: The '90s are back. Embrace it.
When Brewster first walked onto the set of American Crime Story: The People v. O.J. Simpson and saw her poofy, '90s-inspired hairstyle she would be wearing as her character Denise Brown, the actress felt far from excited. "I was like, 'Oh my God. How am I going to pull this off?!'" she admits. "But now, I'm starting to wear this style naturally. I not only miss these trends, but I'm bringing them back in my daily life."
